HRE-LRG / LARGE SHAFTS. CLEAR INTERFACES.
Large-Bore Through-Shaft Encoders
Heavy-duty hollow shaft encoder configuration for traction motors, rollers, wind equipment and mill drives.
Ø20–150 mm project envelope
1024 / 2048 / 4096 PPR requests
BORE ID × HOUSING OD × OUTPUT
Match the shaft before the signal.
Confirm the bore and housing together. A large shaft needs clearance for bearings, sensing elements and the clamp; a bore cannot be larger than its housing.
| Model | Hollow bore ID / mounting | Housing OD | Resolution | Output circuit / protocol | Max RPM |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HRE-LRG-I | Ø20 / 25 / 30 / 38 / 45 / 50 / 60 mm requests | Ø80 / Ø100 mm or larger, by bore | 1024 / 2048 / 4096 PPR request | HTL / TTL RS422 | Confirm by bore & bearing |
| HRE-LRG-X | Ø80–150 mm project requests; ¾″ / 1″ / 1¼″ / 1½″ / 2″ / 3″ | Custom OD greater than bore | Incremental / absolute project review | PROFINET / EtherCAT project review | Confirm by configuration |
Configuration request envelopes, not a released datasheet. Max RPM, exact bore, housing, resolution and protocol combinations require written confirmation. Inch and metric sizes are distinct.

Bring the machine constraints into selection before ordering a prototype.
- Shaft vibration, bearing loads, axial float and peak speed
- Sleeve wall thickness, retention, fit and full electrical isolation path
- Ingress, temperature, shock and EMC evidence for the selected assembly
01 / CHOOSE THE MECHANICAL INTERFACE
One shaft. Three ways to read it.
Through-hollow
A continuous bore lets the shaft pass through the encoder. Check clamp access and shaft clearance.
Blind hollow bore
A closed bore fits the shaft end. Check insertion depth and avoid bottoming out the shaft.
Shaftless ring kit
A ring and readhead use the machine bearing. Check sensing gap, runout and calibration.
Original engineering concepts. Not to scale; final housing, ring and mounting dimensions require an approved drawing.
HRE-LRG / ENGINEERING QUESTIONS
Resolve the fit before release.
Can a PEEK sleeve prevent all bearing fluting?
A suitable insulating sleeve can interrupt one shaft-current path. Tethers, fasteners, shields and mounting geometry may create other paths. Verify isolation on the complete installation.
Can this page approve an elevator or safety replacement?
No. The equipment manufacturer or responsible engineer must approve the configuration, qualification and any safety requirements before use.
